Rescue attempts underway after boat sinks in Uganda

Uganda authorities said on Wednesday that police in western country were responding to a boat accident in which dozens of passengers were missing after a vessel capsized on River Nguse. According to a police statement, the boat carrying an estimated 35 to 40 passengers, overturned on Tuesday evening.

The exact number of missing persons remains unconfirmed due to the absence of a passenger manifest. Marine police had launched search and rescue operations, while investigations into the cause of the accident were ongoing.
