Replica of Shwedagon: C-in-C Attends Consecration Ceremony in Moscow

A ceremony to hoist diamond bud, vane and golden umbrella atop replica of Shwedagon Pagoda at Myanmar Theravada Buddha Vihara (Moscow) Monastery took place on Monday afternoon.

The ceremony in Moscow of the Russian Federation was attended by Presiding Sayadaw Maha Thadhamma Zawtika Daza Dr. Baddanta Icchariya and members of Sangha as well as Myanmar delegation led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander In Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and many others.

In the ceremony, the Senior General and party hoisted the diamond bud, vane and golden umbrella atop the replica of Shwedagon Pagoda. They also sprinkled scented water on the diamond bud, vane and golden umbrella. T

he Ceremony continued with consecration of the replica of Shwedagon Pagoda and Thadhamma Zawtika Ordination Hall Donation.

The attendees also received five precepts and listened to sermons delivered by the members of Sangha. The Senior General also offered cash and a motor vehicle for religious activities and other offertories to  Presiding Sayadaw Maha Thadhamma Zawtika Daza Dr. Baddanta Icchariya.

Also, Member of the State Administration Council Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and members of the delegation offered offertories to the members of Sangha and shared the merits gained. Myanmar Theravada Buddha Vihara (Moscow) Monastery located 14 kilometers east of downtown Moscow was established by Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nannissara and donated by Tatmadawmen and well-wishers.

The Monastery, a base for Buddhist missionaries and a site for religious ceremonies, was opened on the 1st of July in the year of 2015.
