








Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing together with the Union Ministers and officials, visited Aung San Stadium in Mingalataungnyunt Township of Yangon Region on Saturday.
The Union Ministers and officials reported on the work undertakings, formation of the committees for renovation of the stadium, implementation of Underpass and Overpass for convenience of the audience and plan for construction of a stadium with the capacity to host 3,000 audience.
The Prime Minister stressed the needs to make renovation tasks, meeting the international standards, aiming to host the international competitions. It also needs to consider for parking lots, public area and long-term maintenance of the facilities.
The Prime Minister later viewed the scale model of the stadium and gave instructions. He then inspected the Aung San Stadium and sports grounds.
The facility was constructed in 1906, and it was originally named as Burma Athletic Association Ground (BAA). It hosted the local and international competitions including the famous show known as Holiday on Ice. In 1953, the BAA was changed to Aung San Stadium.
Being a historic facility, renovations have been made for hosting the international competitions like the previous days. Upon completion, the sports ground will be able to hose over 30,000 audience, and the stadium will cover for 3,000 audience.
