In Remembrance Of Fallen Martyrs: The Secretariat Displays Memorable History Of Myanmar

On the occasion of 75thAnniversary Martyrs’ day, the secretariat office was opened free for the public to visit and study about the memorable history of Myanmar.

The meeting room where the 9 martyrs assassinated, the gallery with 13 items of memorial things of martyrs and holding ofthe 1st Myanmar Parliament were displayed for the public to study at the building  in accordance with the COVID-19 rules and regulations.

Lin Oo, Police Colonel, No.2, Security Police Command Office said “We take responsibilities for the security at the secretariat office on Martyrs’ day yearly. For holding the ceremony safely, we formed a security committee with 7 detailed plans. With the cooperation of the Police Force and the relevant departments, the health safety measures are undertaken for the visitors in line with of COVID-19 rules during the visit to the secretariat office.”

The visitors can study the historical records on the efforts of Myanmar martyrs during, before and after the independence at the building of the 1st Myanmar Parliament.

SoeNyunt, Visitor said “I was only 14 years old when General Aung San was assassinated. General Aung San is the ideal hero for me. It is difficult for me to come here because of my health. I put lots of effort to come here and I feel happy and proud to see the memorial moments of our fallen heroes.”

According to the COVID-19 rules, step-by-step processes such as the body temperature screening, taking systematic face recognition, filling out a biography are being undertaken for the visitors to study around the secretariat office before entering to the building.

Dr. Tin Oo, Visitor said “During the visit, I study thehistorical records of the 1st Myanmar Parliament building and the historical evidences of the memorial things of Martyrs. I feel sad when I study the meeting room where the 9 martyrs assassinated. The strong evidences of the history are more memorable for me.”

Martyrs' Day commemorates the assassination of General Aung San and eight others in 1947. People in Myanmar celebrate Martyrs' Day on 19thJuly every year, one of the most important national holidays in the country. In addition, hoisting the State Flag at half-mast for the 9 fallen heroes was also held at the Secretariat Building in Yangon on the Martyrs’ Day.
