Religious Affairs: Union Minister visits Jivitadana Sangha Hospital

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin together with officials visited Jivitadana Sangha Hospital in Yangon on Tuesday.

At the meeting hall of the hospital, the Union Minister met the management committee of the hospital and said that the charitable clinic that would become Jivitadana Sangha Hospital was opened by Myanmar patriots U Ba Aye and Dr Ba Oo in 1940.

The aim of the founders of the charitable clinic was to provide free medical treatments to all unhealthy persons in regardless of race or religion who came to the clinic. It was also learned that the hospital was moved from the place where it was opened to the current location and it was opened as a 25-bed Jivitadana Hospital in 1950.

At the end of 1970, it was also renamed as Jivitadana Sangha Hospital. He added that due to the hospital's management and generosity, love, kindness and goodwill of those who manage the hospital, there have been 8 buildings in the hospital compound and it has been upgraded as 200-bed hospital.

Later, Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee reported on history of the hospital and work functions. The Medical Super intendant also reported on providing medical treatments at the hospital. Then, the Union Minister asked about further information and presented cash for medical trust fund.

The Union Minister and party later viewed around the hospital and asked about the health condition of monks and nuns who are being hospitalized and donated cash.

The Union Minister and party then proceeded to Pali University Nyaungdon Pariyatti Monastery in Bahan Township and paid homage to the Presiding Sayadaw and supplicated religious affairs and donated offertories and cash to the Sayadaw.

They then paid homage to member of the State Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Sayadaw of Wah Yon Taw Sasana Pala monastery Dr Baddhanta Withuta Bhivamsa who is receiving medical treatment at the Asia Royal Hospital in San Chaung Township and asked about health conduction of the Sayadaw.

They also donated Waso robe, offertories and cash to the Sayadaw. The Union Minister and party also visited Insein Ywama Pariyatti Monastery and Aung San Tat Oo Tawya monastery in Insein Township and paid homage to the Sayadaws and donated offertories and cash. 

In the evening of that day, the Union Minister and party visited the International Theravāda Buddhist Missionary University and paid homage to rector of the University Dhamma Duta Ashin Saekainda and supplicated religious affairs and donated offertories.
