Relief Measures: Providing cash assistance and foodstuffs

A ceremony to provide cash assistance and utensils to wind-affected persons in Paung Township was held at Pyinyar Beikman of KadonSee Monastery on Sunday.

Vice-Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, attended the ceremony together with the Mon State Chief Minister and officials. First Union Minister and the Chief Minister paid homage to presiding Sayadaw of KyaikHteeSaung SandawShin Pagoda Monastery and donated offertories.

Then, the Union Minister and Chief Minister received cash donated by KyaikHteeSaung Sayadaw and well-wishers respectively. After that, cash assistance and utensils provided by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and Mon State government were presented to wind-affected victims, and a local resident expressed words of thanks.

Next, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister observed the wind-affected religious buildings and residential areas in Paung where they coordinated the necessaries for reconstruction. In the afternoon, the Union Minister attended a ceremony to provide cash assistance to temporarily displaced persons in Mon State due to terrorist incidents.

At the event, over 1.18 billion kyat was provided to more than 19,800 temporarily displaced persons from over 4,000 households, covering a period of three months.

Next, the Union Minister heard reports presented by official from Mon State Disaster Management Department and fulfilled the requirements. He then inspected the storage of relief items and donated items in warehouse, met with staff from the affiliated departments at the office of Mon State Social Welfare Department and coordinated the requirements.
