





The handover ceremony of the relief items from Thailand for the victims from the areas affected by Cyclone Mocha was held at Bo Aung Kyaw jetty on 4th of June with the attendance by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Region Ministers, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Mongkol Visitstump and the responsible officials from the embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Natural Disaster Management Committee (Yangon), Myanmar Red Cross Society.
As part of humanitarian assistance from Thailand to the people of Myanmar affected by cyclone Mocha, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was handed over the relief items to the Chairman of Committee, Yangon Region Chief Minister.
Director, Department of Disaster Management (Yangon), Than Soe said "The relief items including canned fish, fried chicken, dried noodle, jelly and boiled egg weighing about 11 tons, provided by Red Cross Society, World Trade Organization, PTT, companies and universities from Thailand were transported to Yangon. The arrangements are underway to distribute these relief items to cyclone affected victims in Rakhine State as quickly as possible without lacking any individuals. For the cyclone affected victims in Rakhine State, donations have been continuously made by neighboring countries, private and governmental organizations."
As part of humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar affected by cyclone, Myanmar has received relief items contributed by governmental and private organizations from Thailand totaling 4 times.
Cyclonic storms are one of the most unpredictable and damaging disasters. So, effective and special measures are also being undertaken to prevent and avoid the damage and losses if natural disaster occurred. And also, the relief items contributed by Thailand Red Cross Society, relevant organizations, companies and universities will be transported by Weru Pack Kha vessel for the cyclone affected victims in Rakhine State as quickly as possible.
