Regional Stability: Tatmadaw regains control of dam from PDF terrorists

The Tatmadaw have successfully regained control of a major dam and surrounding areas from PDF terrorists who had previously seized the dam and nearby facilities, disrupting local communities, agriculture, and electricity supply.

The operation, which began in August 2025, involved coordinated military strategies to minimize damage to the dam, factories, and local infrastructure. Over 42 clashes occurred during the campaign, resulting in 14 deaths of terrorists and the seizure of 60 weapons.

The dam, located near Salay Village in the Mandalay Region, provides irrigation to 127,000 acres of farmland and generates 25 megawatts of electricity annually. Its recapture is expected to restore water distribution for farming and electricity supply for surrounding communities. The Tatmadaw emphasized that the PDF terrorists had previously misused the dam for their own benefit, causing major agricultural losses and disruptions to local livelihoods.
