Security forces have fully regained control of Banmauk Town in Sagaing Region from KIA and PDF armed terrorist groups.

The terrorist groups had temporarily taken over the town in September 2025, attacking security personnel and forcing residents to flee. During their occupation, they set fire to homes, government buildings, schools, and hospitals, and looted local property.

The terrorist groups had extensively extracted and exploited natural resources from the land and underground during their occupation, causing significant environmental damage. From 24 September 2025, security forces conducted systematic operations to clear the town and surrounding villages.

By 26 October 2025, they regained control over key strategic points around the town. During the operations, the terrorist groups continued to attack, but security forces followed strict rules of engagement to minimize damage. After more than four months of operations, the town was fully restored under government control.

In total, 69 clashes occurred, resulting in some casualties and injuries among security forces. Weapons, explosives, and other materials used by the terrorists were seized. Security forces are now working with local residents to restore normal life, repair buildings and schools, clear mines, and rebuild the town.
