Regional Meeting: Operation Plan for Precursor Chemical & Interdiction

The Meeting on the Operation Plan for Precursor Chemical and Interdiction between Lao PDR, Myanmar ant Thailand was held at the Heritage Pattaya Beach Resort in Thailand from 25th to 27th December.

A total of 21 representatives including Laos delegation led by Secretary General of LCDC, Myanmar delegation led by Joint Secretary of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control and Commander of the Drug Enforcement Division Police Brig. Gen. Win Naing and Thai delegation led by the General Secretary of ONCB.

At the meeting they discussed about the status of joint control and elimination of precursor chemicals according to relevant countries and future  programs, arrangements for the control of Sodium Cyanide Benzyl Cyanide and Benzyl Chloride and plan to control Hydroxylimine by Thailand in this year, the effive ways to control narcotic drugs, Myanmar’s readiness to cooperate with neighbouring countries in the illegal importation of chemical substances used in the production of narcotic drugs, the importance of prevention and control of chemical substances by the respective countries for the prevention of man-made drug production, more cooperation of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand for the prevention of illegal trading of precursor chemicals and seizures, conducting Eagle 19 training of the special task force on drug enforcement to be conducted in Thailand and efforts for the control of precursor chemical by the Safe Mekong Coordination Centre (SMCC) of Lao PDR.

The meeting also focused access to funding and equipment support from the international narcotics control boards including UNODC in the annual destruction of  seized precursor chemicals by the respective countries for the safety of the public's health and the environment, compiling the necessary data to report to the CND, information exchange, conducting training by ONCB of Thailand to the anti-narcotic force from Laos and Myanmar and closer cooperation in the control of narcotic drugs by Lao, Myanmar and Thailand to reduce trading of narcotic drugs in the golden triangle.
