Regional Development Meeting: PM meets town elders in Pathein of Ayeyawaddy Region

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and members, Ayeyawady region Chief Minister, the Commander of Southwest Command and departmental official met town elders in Pathein at the guest house of regional government office on Friday and cordially discussed for regional development.

Then, the town elders expressed words of gratitude to have a chance to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss their requirements and made discussions to accelerate the crop production, to conserve and fix the quality of the farmlands which are damaged by the long-term usage of the compound fertilizers, to open an Institute of Agriculture and livestock breeding in the region and requirements for upgrading the roads in the region and the Chief Minister coordinated requirements.

In his response, the Senior General stressed that today is a market economy system, so not only the government's actions but also the individual efforts of local businessmen are important. He pledged to develop the best policy.

In conjunction with agricultural activities, livestock activities also need to be carried out. In carrying out agricultural activities, it’s necessary to have pure strains; the land must be properly repaired to improve its quality; irrigation must be available; and planting methods must be correct.

Roads upgrade works are underway and Pathein Airport will also be upgraded to be able to accept international flights. Ayeyawaddy is a region that the country relies on and needs to be developed as a model region in agriculture.

The state will also fulfill the needs. Later, the Prime Minister and party cordially greeted town elders in Pathein of Ayeyawady region.

The Prime Minister and party then viewed around Pathein in a motor cade. They then visited Shwe Moke Htaw Pagoda in Pathein where the Prime Minister and wife and party paid homage to the pagoda and donated flowers, water and lights.

The Prime Minister signed the distinguished visitors’ book. The Prime Minister and wife donated cash for all-round development of pagoda to the Pagoda Board of Trustees who gave in turn Dhamma gifts to them.

The Prime Minister and party then visited around the Pagoda and called for maintenance of the pagoda for its long-term durability and gave necessary instructions. They then looked into religious items and traditional handicrafts sale shops in the prayer hall and made cordial greetings.
