Regional Cooperation: 25th ASEAN Chief of Armies Multilateral Meeting

A Myanmar delegation, led by Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye attended the 25th ASEAN Chief of Armies Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM) at the Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort in Mabalacat, Philippines, on November 21. General Maung Maung Aye attended the meeting on behalf of the Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

The event was officially opened with a keynote address by Commanding General of the Philippine Army Lt-Gen. Roy M. Galido. After a series of discussions on the theme “Strengthening Partnership and Camaraderie Towards Regional Stability” by ASEAN Chiefs of Armies and military delegates, the meeting concluded in the afternoon.

After the meeting, General Maung Maung Aye participated in a joint press conference with the ASEAN Army Chiefs.

On a separate occasion, the delegation led by General Maung Maung Aye met with several key military leaders including the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, the Deputy Director of the General Staff Department of the Lao People’s Army and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force. During the meeting, they discussed on strengthening friendship and cooperation between their respective militaries.

In the evening, General Maung Maung Aye attended an honorary dinner hosted by the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, alongside the ASEAN Chiefs of Armies and delegation members. Following the dinner, General Maung Maung Aye and the Commanding General of the Philippine Army exchanged memorable gifts.
