Reduce plastic bag use

July 3 each year is International Plastic Bag Free Day. This year, a chain of events was organized for the first time to mark this day in Vietnam.

At many large malls and supermarkets, consumers participated in many activities to say no to plastic bags. For a deposit of 5,000 Vietnamese Dong, customers can rent sturdy canvas bags when shopping at this mall. This initiative contributes to reducing the use of plastic bags in retail. Single-use plastic and plastic bags in supermarkets, commercial centers and tourist areas will be banned in Vietnam.

And also, the production and import of single-use plastic will be stopped by 2030. The National Assembly of Vietnam is currently considering a proposal to raise the tax on non-biodegradable plastic bags and packaging, which will speed up the process of plastic bag reduction in the country.
