Union Minister for the Ministry of Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received Ms. Gwyn Lewis, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator a.i. (UNRC/HC a.i.) for Myanmar, and her delegation at the ministry's reception hall in Nay Pyi Taw, on October 23.

During the meeting, the ministry discussed its ongoing efforts to facilitate matters related to entry visas and residency for United Nations organizations in Myanmar, the collaboration between the ministry and UNDP-UNHCR in implementing a tripartite MOU for the repatriation process of displaced persons from Rakhine State, the temporary stay arrangements in Yangon for UN/INGO staff and their families from Rakhine State as coordinated by the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO), the enhanced cooperation with UN agencies including UNFPA in population and development activities, and the overall framework for continued partnership between the ministry and United Nations organizations operating in Myanmar. The meeting was reported to have been an open and frank exchange of views on these matters.
