Receiving Ambassador of India: MOFA UM received Ambassador of India

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe received Ambassador of India to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 26 August.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed matters related to mutually beneficial cooperation, border trade, border security and boundary as well as India’s continued support for post-earthquake rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe met with and addressed officials and staff who will be serving at Myanmar Missions abroad, Permanent Missions of Myanmar, and Myanmar Consulates-General, was held at the Saturingabala Hall of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday, 26th August 2025. 

According to the agenda, the officials and staff assigned to serve at the Embassies, Missions, and Consulates-General introduced, on an individual basis, the countries where they had previously served and the countries to which they are now assigned to serve.

Following these presentations, Union Minister U Than Swe delivered a speech. In his speech, he expressed his happiness and pride in the selection and posting of the officials and staff for service abroad, mentioned that one-third of the Ministry's staff are serving in foreign posts, specially urged that as diplomatic staff, they must remain loyal to their State, emphasized the need to always honour the Three Main National Causes while performing their duties, expressed his desire for them to carry out their assigned duties with utmost importance, valuing them as their own lives and stated that they must act prudently, embodying the qualities and competencies of a diplomat. Following the remarks, the ceremony was concluded.
