Rakhine State Situation: Special Envoy Holds Meetings and Visits Relief Camps

Special Envoy for the National Reconciliation in Myanmar and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation Mr. Yohei Sasakawa arrived in Sittwe of Rakhine State on Monday to enquire about the situation in the State.

First, the Special Envoy separately held meetings with Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr. Aung Kyaw Min and Commander of Western Command Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo. The meetings at the State Government Office focused on COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures, regional development works, efforts for social, economic and educational improvement and also stability process in the State.

On the same day, the Special Envoy held talks with the locals taking shelter at Aung Myay Bawdi Dhamma Yeiktha AloTawPyae Monastery and Oatttalin Monastery and gave words of encouragement. He also met with Bengalis taking shelter at the relief camp in ThetKalPyin Village.

The Special Envoy Mr. Yohei Sasakawa also answered the questions raised by reporters at the State Government Guest House.
