Qinling giant panda birthday

Giant pandas Qiangsheng and Hengheng recently celebrated their sixth birthday with special birthday cakes at the Foping Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

The cakes were made of three tiers of fresh bamboo shoots and fruits topped with carrot arranged in the shape of the Chinese character for "six." Hengheng, arrived at the Foping Panda Base in December 2019, while Qiangsheng arrived in November 2022.

Foping County in Shaanxi Province lies on the southern slopes of the Qinling Mountains, one of China's principal Giant panda habitats. The ecologically pristine area is also home to hundreds of other rare animals and plants. The Foping Research Base runs artificial breeding programs for Giant pandas, as well as a rescue, treatment and rehabilitation center for wild pandas.
