Protesters rally against Trump ahead of RNC speech

Demonstrators gathered in Washington DC on Thursday evening before US President Donald Trump was due to accept his party's renomination at the White House. The protesters marched along the Black Lives Matter (BLM) Plaza toward Lafayette Park carrying anti-Trump and BLM banners and signs. Trump was breaking with tradition by using the executive mansion as a political backdrop and defying pandemic guidelines to address a tightly packed, largely maskless crowd.
