




Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing conducted a visit to Pathein in the Ayeyawady Region on Saturday.
At the Pathein Airport lounge, Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win and officials presented reports on airport's history and plans for enhancement.
The Prime Minister highlighted the potential of upgrading Pathein Airport to boost the tourism industry, leveraging the region's natural attractions such as renowned beaches, local products, and existing infrastructure.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister held a meeting with regional departmental personnel and community elders at the Regional Government Office.
Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win reported on ongoing work, covering agriculture, livestock breeding, salt production, environmental conservation, electricity supply, transportation access, education, health, and tourism development. Attendees emphasized the need to upgrade Bailey Bridges on the roads connecting Pathein-Chaung Tha and Pathein-Ngwe Hsaung, establish a cargo terminal for efficient commodity flow, and enhance the Yangon-Pathein road. Union Ministers U Min Naung, U Hla Moe, U Khin Maung Yi, U Myo Thant, and Dr. Nyunt Pe responded to these concerns with sector-wise plans.
Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing underscored the reliability of the Ayeyawady Region due to its abundant natural resources and high achievements in education. He emphasized the importance of preserving these conditions for continued success and addressed various aspects of regional development, including transportation facilities, tourism, urban projects, trade, agriculture, livestock, fish breeding, and industrial production. Rehabilitation measures were also discussed to ensure a steady supply of natural resources and resilience to natural disasters.
The Prime Minister urged collaborative efforts among departmental personnel, community elders, and locals to work towards the nation's and the region's broader interests. Following the meeting, the Prime Minister inspected roads, bridges, urban development, the Ayeyawady International Industrial Terminal, and Industrial Zones during a tour around Pathein.
