The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a press statement on rejecting one-sided remarks and statements based on inaccurate information on 2nd July 2021.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly objects to one-sided remarks on the numbers of detainees and deaths of protesters by the spokesperson of the Secretary-General who quoted the unverifiable facts received from the UN Country Team of Myanmar during the noon briefings to the Press on 29 June 2021. The Director-General of the Strategic Studies and Training Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with the official concerned of the UN Country Team in Yangon on 2 July 2021 and made an objection to the said matter. Moreover, the Director-General rejects the information uploaded on the website of the United Nations as it is linked to the website of the so-called National Unity Government (NUG) which was declared as a terrorist group and asked the verification of the said linkage at the earliest possible. The United Nations is requested not to release one-sided remarks without verification and to verify sensitive information with relevant focal ministries before its release in the press and briefings.
