Press Release: UEC issued Press Release on political parties

The Union Election Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar issued a Press Release on 8th April, 2025.

It states that the Union Election Commission is currently reviewing and approving applications for political party registration in accordance with Section 3(a) of the Political Parties Registration Law. These applications are submitted by groups of at least 15 individuals seeking to establish a new political party.

As the 2025 General Elections are scheduled to be held in December, the Union Election Commission urges those wishing to form new political parties or merge existing parties into a single entity to submit their registration applications no later than 9th May 2025. This deadline ensures sufficient time for the Commission to process applications and for political parties to prepare for election-related activities, including campaigning and voter outreach.
