Press Briefing: SAC Information Team Holds Press Briefing

Information Team of the State Administration Council held a press briefing on Saturday.

Information Team Leader Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained the implementations for the education sector. Due to the global pandemic, schools have been closed for about a year, causing a delay in pursuing education. At present, the final year courses of the universities and colleges have been reopened on 5th May, and the basic education schools are scheduled to reopen in June. Necessary arrangements have been made for the reopening of the schools. But there are some instigations that threaten the students not to go to schools. Also, the teachers have been threatened by various means as they are carrying out their duties for reopening the schools. He urged all to help for convenient work undertakings of teachers. He later continued the explanation on the work performance of SAC during April, stressing the visit of SAC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to Indonesia for the ASEAN Leader's Summit. He also explained the announcement of the State Administration Council on re-invitation to Myanmar citizens who arrive in various regions for many reasons. He also stressed the holding meetings for the peacemaking process as well as various regional and international meetings, COVID-19 vaccination process, arrangements for reopening of hospitals in Yangon and Mandalay, resuming of air routes and trains. Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun later explained the announcement of the Myanmar Anti-Terrorism Central Committee to NUG, CRPH and PDF as terrorist groups. He said anyone who supports those terrorist groups by any means will be taken action in line with the existing laws. During April and May, there were 57 attempts to attack education facilities, and culprits have been arrested for the cases along with the explosive devices and related items. 63 innocent people died due to the attacks by the terrorists.

Member of Union Election Commission U Khin Maung Oo later explained the voters list scrutinizing process and future work programs of UEC.

Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Win Thaw later replied to the queries raised by the media concerning the current progress in providing banking services.

The journalists from local and foreign media organizations based in Myanmar also raised queries during the press conference.
