Preparations for Election: Clarification of procedures for accurate population census

Clarification of procedures was made to tackle issues in which national registration cards and numbers have been registered multiple times in the voter list obtained from the Union Election Commission's Cross Check among the residents of Shan State.

During this clarification process in Taunggyi on Tuesday, Member of the Union Election Commission [UEC] U Soe Thein made explanations. And, State Chief Minister Dr. Kyaw Tun said that ethnic groups were told to have national registration cards and since there are migrant workers in Shan State, household lists have been registered multiple times.

He urged attendees to follow the procedures clarified by the Union Election Commission so that the country’s population census will be accurate.
