


To supply the electricity demand in Myanmar, medium hydropower plants projects will be carried out and about 29 solar power plants projects are underway to generate 1,000 MW of electricity.
According to the Chief Engineer of Electric Power Generation Enterprise Dr. Kyaw Swar Soe Naing, AnnChaung hydropower plant will be implemented soon.
For the Tanintharyi Basin hydropower plant project, tenders were invited via daily newspaper from the 4th and 6th of January 2022 and tender submission from companies will be accepted on 16th May 2022.
The ministry called tender in May 2020 for about 30 1,000-MW solar power plants. Only ThaPyayWa power project out of those 29 can generate electricity on 16th December 2021.
Let PanHla and NyaungPinGyi projects are underway and the rest of the projects have been suspended. Tenders will be called for 18 out of the rest 26 projects.
Regarding the solar power plants projects, tenders were invited for 320 MW solar power plants projects and only 11 tenders’ documents out of 12 were accepted.
Only 10 tender wining companies were approved in March 2022. They have to generate electricity during 180 days after winning the tenders.
The ministry urged the relevant companies to complete those 10 projects in a timely manner. As the ministry has been working hard to supply enough power to the public via available energy sources.
