Almost forty-thousand people gathered in St. Peter's Square on Sunday to listen to Pope Francis celebrating the "Regina Coeli" prayer from the window of his studio. The Pontiff reiterated his appeal for peace in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, asking for an Easter truce.

Pope Francis also appealed to the political leaders to listen to the voice of the people who want peace, "not an escalation of the conflict." He also spoke about the situation in Cameroon, where local bishops promoted a pilgrimage to the Marian sanctuary of Marianberg to pray for peace in a country that has been torn apart by violence for more than five years.
