Planting of Mangrove Trees: Taninthayi Region CM joined the event

Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, along with regional ministers and officials, attended the International Mangrove Ecosystem Conservation Day event organized by the Forest Department in Katta Lu Village, Kunsu Township, Taninthayi Region on August 20.

During the event, the Chief Minister and officials distributed mangrove seedlings to the departments, social organizations, and local residents. The Chief Minister then led the participants in a collective and enthusiastic planting of mangrove trees. The Chief Minister and officials also observed the participants planting mangroves and planted some windbreak coconut trees. The Tanintharyi Region continues to plant mangroves and carry out mangrove conservation efforts annually.

After the planting ceremony, the Chief Minister and officials visited the successful Pyae Phyo Tun Company's modern saltwater prawn farming project in Katta Lu Village. U Hla Than, the company's managing director, gave a presentation on the project at the briefing hall. The Chief Minister and officials then toured the 64 prawn ponds.

They then visited Ward 4 in Kunsu Township, where the company is expanding with an additional 76 prawn ponds. From a viewpoint on the hill, they observed the 30 ponds that have already been completed and are being used for a trial run. The remaining 46 ponds are expected to be ready for prawn farming in the coming open season.

The Chief Minister and officials also inspected the power house, which is equipped with two 4 MVA transformers and two 1450 kVA generators, used for the expansion project in Ward 4. The power house will also be supplemented by a solar power system with a total capacity of 2.7 MW, using 710 W solar panels and a battery system.
