Planning and Awareness-Raising: Paper-Reading Session on Tourism Disaster Management

The Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the World Tourism Organization and the Japan Tourism Agency held a joint paper-reading session on tourism disaster management planning and awareness-raising on Thursday.

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung joined the session together with the officials from the Ministry and tourism related associations. Tourism experts gave talk on “Tourism Disaster Management Awareness” and “Tourism Disaster Management Plan Guidelines and Response Procedures”. Tourism officials from Japan and Australia discussed the response to volcanic eruptions and natural disasters in Japan and tourism rehabilitation and emergency response to wildfires in Australia.
