Philosophical Exhibition: Pre-Centenary Event In University Of Yangon

As the University of Yangon will get to 100th anniversary in 2020, Department of Philosophy organizes two-day pre-centenary Philosophical Exhibition at the Recreation Center in the campus of University of Yangon.

The University of Yangon, located in Kamayut Township, is the oldest and the most well-known University in Myanmar. Founded in 1st December 1920, the University of Yangon will reach its centenary in coming 1st December 2020.The faculties from the Department of Philosophy, Associate-Professors and experts are the speakers of the talks.

Head of Department, Department of Philosophy, Dr. Lae Lae Win said “Today’s event is a kind of showing how philosophy can be applied in our daily life. The Department of Philosophy has offered the very first batch for Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Philosophy course this academic year. And I’m so glad that this is part of the pre-centenary celebration for University of Yangon. You can find out not only the student’s arts but also the artistic works of teachers at the exhibition.”

The exhibition and talks on philosophy are included in the two day event from 26th to 27th August. The installation arts, photos, paintings, philosophical books and sayings are displayed to all attendees.

Diploma student, Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Philosophy (1st Batch), Chit Ko Ko said “We’d like to highlight the theory that thinking is vital for every step of our life. Everyone will see this installation art like “the chair is not properly positioned” but they should think like “how to place the chair in a right position”. We need to think differently by means of positive way.”

The Department will also organize the World Philosophy Day in the third week November.
