Pension Issuance: Myanma Economic Bank branch-2 issues Pensions

Myanma Economic Bank branch (2) in Mandalayis issuing pensions to the retired civil servants for May.

The bank uses a queuing system in taking out the pension for the convenience of retired persons and also provides smart cards in respective order.

Myo Min Ko, Bank Manager, Myanma Economic Bank (Branch 2), MDY said "We are issuing pensions starting from 23rd May, and we have issued about 550 pensioners till now. Normally, about 2,000 pensioners come to withdraw their pensions in the first 2 days. There are about 8,000 pensioners for the whole month, and we have to issue about 2.1 billion kyats every month."

For the people who can’t come to the bank because of chronic disease, bank staffs give them an appointment, collect the required documents and signatures, and issue their pensions after the office hours in the evening.

War War Htay, Pensioner said "I have been a pensioner since 2016. Since I already have an e-pension card, I have to withdraw from another counter. Before, I didn’t withdraw my pension monthly and now I can withdraw my pension every month. The queuing system is comfortable too because the chairs are provided here."

Kyu Kyu, Pensioner said "I live in Patheingyi but, I want to withdraw here. Whenever I come to withdraw my pension, I reunite with my friends since we live apart from each other. We can follow up about our lives, and sometimes, I visit to my close friends afterwards."

It is learnt that over 19,000 pensioners come to withdraw their pensions at Myanma Economic Bank branch (2) every month. The Bank also arranges to issue the money by using E-pension cards and Myanmar Mobile Banking system for convenience.
