Pearl Production: Over 790,000 momi produced during 7-month period

The expected amount of pearl (momi) for the 2022-2023 Financial year is 699,500 momi and the total amount of momi produced during the period between April to October 2022 is 792,298 momi.

Myint Thu, General Manager, Pearl Farming & Distribution Enterprise , said " As the processes are carried out in pearl farms systematically, pearl production businesses are successful and the production rate has increased year by year. Only good biodiversity and marine ecosystems can help pearl farming to be done successfully. Pearl farming doesn’t harm the natural environment and it can also raise the public awareness to pay attention to environmental conservation."

Plans are underway to continue producing pearl from November 2022 to March 2023 and the production rate is expected to exceed 100 %.

As pearl farming depends on human workforce and pearl is one of the renewable resources, pearl farming can earn foreign income for the nation without costing much.
