Peace Talks: SPTT meets UWSP, NDAA and SSPP delegates

The meeting between the State Peace Talks Team-SPTT and the peace delegations of the United Wa State Party (UWSP), the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) and the Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) was held at the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Centre in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

SAC member Union Minister at the Government Office National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee-NSPNC Chairman Peace Talks Team Leader Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, SAC member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naung, and NSPNC members, UWSP Vice-Chairman U Lau Yaku, NDAA Vice-Chairman U San Pae, SSPP Vice-Chairman-2 Sao Khun Seng and peace talks representatives attended the meeting.

At the meeting, SPTT Leader Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and UWSP Vice-Chairman U Lau Yaku on behalf of the participating ethnic armed organizations extended greetings. Later, the matters to be discussed at the talks and agendas were discussed. According to the agreements during the 2nd meeting, the remaining matters and the political preferences of respective groups were mutually discussed.

Later, attendees discussed matters to amend the basic sections from the 2008 Constitution in building a Union based on democracy and federalism and then the 1st day meeting adjourned. The second-day meeting will continue on 6th January.
