Peace Process: SAC Chairman, DKBA delegation hold peace talks

Chairman of the State Administration Council [SAC] Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on Sunday afternoon received the peace delegation led by Commander-in-Chief Saw Steel of the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army-DKBA to talk about peace issues.

The talk at Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw was also attended by Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. Commander-in-Chief Saw Steel of Democratic Karen Benevolent Army-DKBA was accompanied by Adjutant General Saw Sein Win and Head of Relations Department Saw Kyaw Than Htay.

At the talks, the Senior General said that invitation was extended to all to hold the peace talks for serving the interests of the Union, and ethnic armed organizations were urged to be open-minded in talks as demands of the ethnic armed organizations and appropriate measures for the needs of each region and the country will be discussed thoroughly.

The Senior General explained exercising of multiparty democracy in conformity with the people’s desires and construction of the Union based on democracy and federalism.

Commander-in-Chief Saw Steel of Democratic Karen Benevolent Army-DKBA and party discussed the situation of the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army-DKBA to permanently join hands with the Tatmadaw and similar attitudes for building the Union based on democracy and federalism.

They also reported on regional development measures. Next, both sides frankly exchanged their views on peace issues and regional development tasks.

After the talks, the Senior General presented gifts to Commander-in-Chief Saw Steel of Democratic Karen Benevolent Army-DKBA and party who returned domestic gifts.

The peace delegation led by Commander-in-Chief Saw Steel of Democratic Karen Benevolent Army-DKBA will hold peace talks with the Peace Talks Team and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee with participation of the council members formed by the State Administration Council.
