Peace Process : NSPNC meets with political parties

The meeting between the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee and the Representatives of Political Parties Group continued for its second day in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday, with Committee Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae explaining the future work plans for the peace process.

This was followed by the selection and approval of 16 working group members from the political parties.

The meeting then discussed plans for future meetings, the participation of political parties in political dialogues, the restoration of normalcy in conflict-affected areas, transformation for the future peace process, amendments to the 2008 Constitution, relations between the Union Government and Region/State Governments, the role of political parties in promoting interaction with institutions outside peace meetings, and the materialization of ceasefires through bilateral meetings.

The meeting also reviewed the security and socio-economic needs of local communities, women's participation in the peace process, international relations, and ways to establish contact with newly formed armed groups.
