Paying a Courtesy Call: Indonesian FM paid a courtesy call to President

A delegation led by Mr. Sugiono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing Monday afternoon at the Presidential Guest Hall in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, they cordially and openly exchanged views on the matters relating to the longstanding friendship between Myanmar and Indonesia as old and close friends, with good relations existing between the governments and leaders of the two countries since their respective struggles for independence, Indonesia’s full confidence that the elected government led by President U Min Aung Hlaing can overcome the current challenges and difficulties facing Myanmar and lead the country toward greater development and peace, Indonesia’s steadfast commitment to recognizing Myanmar as an integral part of ASEAN and as a friend of Indonesia, and to providing necessary assistance for Myanmar to emerge as a successful and peaceful nation, Myanmar’s ongoing best cooperation within the ASEAN community, its efforts to restore stronger and more robust Myanmar-ASEAN relations, and its continued endeavors to further enhance existing friendships, the importance of practicing a system of democracy that suits each country’s unique characteristics and cultures when implementing democratic systems, the Myanmar government’s continued efforts to establish itself as a reliable, commendable government that can build a developed, stable, and peaceful nation that the people can trust and the enhancement of diplomatic relations, friendship, and cooperation between Myanmar and Indonesia.

After the meeting, the President and the Indonesian Foreign Minister, together with those in attendance, posed for a group commemorative photo, it’s reported.
