Rakhine State COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee held its coordination meeting (1/2022) at the State Government Office on Friday.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Committee, Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min said that in Rakhine State, the COVID-19 infection rate has dropped to 2% and now infected people are being found again. Infectious diseases were found in other townships including Sittwe. The relevant departments need to cooperate in covid-19 control and containment measures as it is an urgent need to control the spread of the virus.
He called on government departments and civil society organizations to conduct public awareness on COVID-19 prevention and control activities in Rakhine State as much as possible. Later, the Secretary of the Committee, State Security and Border Affairs Minister reported directives of the Central Committee for Control and Emergency Response of COVID-19, outbreak of the disease in Rakhine State, receiving medical treatment for infected people and COVID-19 vaccination status.
He also clarified the need for public participation in prevention and control activities. Members of the State COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee, departmental officials and Civil Society Organizations reported on COVID-19 infections in the state, prevention and control activities, awareness activities and future plans.
