




The Republic of Korea temporarily suspended acceptance of Myanmar workers to her country in November 2020 due COVID-19 and now Korea accepts Myanmar workers again. Myanmar dispatched again employees to Korea in December 2021.
If persons who want to work in Korea must be between 18 to 38 years. They must not be colour blind and must be healthy. They are not the ones who have lived in Korea for above 5 years and lived illegally there. If they accept the job offer letter, they can apply visas at the Embassy of Korea.
Aye Aye Thaw, Deputy Director, Department of Labour said “The salary is already described in the job offer. We have already trained their health system, law, safety, their lifestyle and culture int the on-job training course. The re-entry workers are no need to attend the course and the new employees have to attend the course. They will be allowed to work in Korea about 4 years and 10 months.”
The employees from agriculture, livestock, manufacturing and construction fields are sent to the Republic of Korea.
Re-entry Employee, Thet Paing Htut said “I worked in the production and manufacturing field. After working 4 years and 10 months, I come back to Myanmar for 3 months. During 3 month, I waited for a while to come back to Korea because of Covid-19. As the employer like me, he made contract again. So, we extend the contract term again for another 4 years and 10 months.”
Dispatching of Myanmar workers to Korea through Employment Permit (EPS) system, can create increasing overseas job opportunities. They will have a chance to work in Korea in legal way and they will enjoy fully employment opportunities. Moreover, they can learn advanced technology for their socio-economic life.
New Employee, Nyi Kan Kaung said “We passed EPS exam in December 2018 and I received a job offer in February 2020. My aim to the Korea is… I’d like to learn their technologies and based on these technologies and techniques, I want to operate a business in my country.”
A total of 286 employees have been dispatched to Korea until now and 36 re-entry employees and 13 construction employees, altogether 49 were dispatched to the Republic of Korea on 6th February 2022.
