Oriental white stork conservation efforts

Scientific research teams in north China’s Tianjin Municipality are stepping up efforts to enhance the conservation and research of oriental white storks, a migratory bird species under first-class national protection in China.

As an important stopover of the migratory birds during the migration seasons of spring and autumn, Tianjin has used various means to monitor and collect information of the oriental white stork, including tracking with satellite technology.

Apart from satellite tracking systems, the research team conducted studies by collecting excrement and feathers from oriental white storks to better carry out the protection and research of the birds.
