Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung attended the ceremony alongside Central Command Commander Brigadier General Aung Htay, the Chief Justice of Region High Court, region ministers, departmental officials, towns-elders and invited guests.
In his speech, the Chief Minister said the road is a key route in Amarapura Township and an important economic corridor. He noted that the original road had been upgraded to a four-lane road in 1994, but was severely damaged by the Mandalay earthquake on March 28, 2025, which caused embankment liquefaction, cracks, and subsidence. The damaged section has now been systematically reconstructed in line with established standards at a cost of over 9.260 billion kyats of Disaster Management Fund, aiming to ensure public convenience and long-term durability.
Mandalay Mayor U Kyaw San said ongoing efforts are focused on improving urban infrastructure, easing traffic congestion, and enabling smoother and faster transportation. The completed road section is 12,200 feet long, 24 feet wide, with four lanes on each side and a 20-foot median. Construction was carried out on schedule to avoid disruption to transport and goods flow.
The Chief Minister and officials then cut the ribbon for the road inauguration. This was followed by the presentation of commemorative gifts, greetings to locals, and cash awards to Drum and Bugle Corps and Pom Pom dance troupes in honor of the Armed Forces Day.
