









Ceremonies to open Barani and Thama Gon Yi student domitories were held at the University of Medical Technology (Yangon) and the University of Medicine 1 (Yangon) respectively on 26th July.
Union Minister for Health Prof Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and many other concerned officials attended the ceremonies.
At the opening ceremony of Barani dormitory at the University of Medical Technology, the Union Minister, Cheif Minister and officials inaugurated the ceremony by cutting ceremonial ribbons.
Then, the Union Minister and Chaief Minister inspected the new facility and gave necessary instructions. At the 2nd session of the opening ceremony, the Union Minister made an opening speech. Then, the relevant documents were handed over to the Director General of the Department of Human Resources for Health.
After enjoying the stage performances of the students, the Union Minister and Chief Minister presented cash awards to the studetns. At the opening ceremony of Thama Gon Yi domitory at the University of Medicine 1 in Dagon Township, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister opened the ceremony by cutting ceremonial ribbons. Then, they made a tour to the new facility and provided necessary instructions.
During the 2nd session of the ceremony, the Union Minister made an opening speech and the relevant documents were handed over to the Director General of the Department of Human Resources for Health.
In his speech, the Union Minister highlighted the purpose of providing new facilities for the universities which is to ensure peace and stable learning environment for the students to turn out qualified medical specialists and experts.
The Union Minister also stressed on benefits of staying in university accommodations which help develop team work skill, peer learning skill, responsibilities and unity among students. A total of 168 students can be accommodated at the Barani dormitory which is a L shaped 4-storey building constructed with 2.334 billion kyat 2024-2025 State Fund.
Likewise, a total of 250 students can be accommodated at 5-storey RC building “Thama Gon Yi” dormitory which was constructed with 2.980 billion kyat State Fund.
