Opening of Mahapatthana Reciting: YGN CM attended the opening ceremony

The second non-stop Mahāpaṭṭhāna reciting ceremony, during the Buddhist Lent period in 2025, organized by the Yangon Region Government, began on the evening of August 4. The opening ceremony was held at the Chanthargyi Prayer Hall, located at the northern entrance of the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon Region.

First, the Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and attendees took the Five Precepts from Dr. Bhaddanta Aggasami , who is an Ovadacariya Sayadaw to the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees and Chair of the Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka Committee.

Afterward, Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials offered donations to the Sayadaws. They then listened to a sermon on the benefits and methods of the Paṭṭhāna Dhamma from Bhaddanta Naradabhivamsa (Hla Yatana Sayadaw) , also an Ovadacariya Sayadaw to the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees.

Following the sermon, the members of Sangha and the crowd collectively recited the Mahāpaṭṭhāna Paccayuddesa Pali . A rotating group of monks will continue the non-stop reciting of the Paṭṭhāna Pali from August 4 to August 8.
