






The opening ceremony for the Diploma in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (Dip IPSAS) - Batch No. (2), Part (2), for the public sector, was held at the Navarat Hall of the Union Auditor-General's Office in Nay Pyi Taw, using a hybrid system on October 21.
The course is opened by the Auditor-General's Office of the Union, the Advanced Accountancy and Auditing Training School in Nay Pyi Taw, and is overseen by the Myanmar Accountancy Council. During her opening address at the ceremony, the Union Auditor-General and Chairperson of the Myanmar Accountancy Council, Dr. Khin Naing Oo, stated that the Myanmar Accountancy Council is offering this course with the aims of contributing to the development of a strong public financial management system that supports national development, increasing the number of skilled accountants and accounting professionals in both public and private sectors in a balanced manner, and promoting the dissemination of accounting knowledge.
She mentioned that participants will gain knowledge related to IPSAS through this course, and by applying these standards in preparing financial statements, they will be able to produce financial reports with greater accountability, responsibility, and transparency.
She encouraged the trainees to continuously study not only the lessons learned but also changes in accounting standards, and to strive to become staff who can contribute to furthering the interests of the State through their organizations by applying this knowledge in their workplaces.
Following this, the in-charge of the Nay Pyi Taw Training School under the Advanced Accountancy and Auditing Training School of the Auditor-General's Office of the Union, explained the course details. The IPSAS course will cover 14 international standards for the public sector.
A total of 26 trainees including 2 from the Union Auditor-General's Office and 24 from 13 ministries will attend the course. The training will run for over two months, from October 21, 2025, to January 5, 2026. The IPSAS course will be divided into three levels per batch. Certificates will be awarded to participants who successfully complete each level, and a Diploma will be conferred upon those who successfully complete up to Level-III.
