










The opening ceremony of 2025 Tazaungdaing Hot Air Balloon Festival was held at Awaiya Ground on 29th October in grand scale. First, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung and his wife together with the Commander of Eastern Command, State Advocate General and many other concerned officials offered flowers, water and oil lamps to Sulamuni Lawka Chantha Pagoda.
Then, the Chief Minister and officials inaugurated the ceremony by cutting ribbons. In his speech, the Chief Minister in his capacity as a Patron of the Taunggyi Tazaundaing Festival Organizing Committee stated that the Tazaungdaing Festival will be held from 29th October to 5th November in grand manner.
During the festival, Padetha Procession, Mathoe Robe weaving ceremony, Day Hot Air Balloon, Night Hot Air Balloon and Seinaban Hot Air Balloon Releasing Competitions will be held in grandeur. As Taunggyi Tazaungdaing Festival reflects the unity, solidarity, and social cohesion among ethnic nationals across nation, the Chief Minister called for the active participation of ethnic nationals in the festival, preserving diverse invaluable traditions and cultures.
Then, the Chief Minister pressed the button to inaugurate Hot Air Balloon Releasing competition and released a Seinaban Hot Air Balloon. Following this, 50 medium hot air balloons and 300 small hot air balloons were released by ethnic nationals and students.
Moreover, artists and ethnic dance troupes staged performances for the festive goers. A total of 80 night time balloons and 361 day time Balloons under different categories will be participated in the competition.
