



The opening ceremony of 14th Traditional Medicine Symposium took place at Myanmar Medical Association (Mandalay) on 28th August. Union Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, rectors, honorary professors, departmental officials and special invited guests attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was inaugurated with the recitation of Nawarat Oath in unison by the traditional medicine practictioners. Then, the Union Minister delivered opening remarks. In his remarks, the Union Minister stated the crucial role of traditional medicine resarch in upgrading traditional medicine as evidence based medicine.
The Union Minister urged the relevant individuals to accelerate the research works in accordance with research ethics. He also elborated on development of traditional medicine enterprises as part of MSMEs and copy rights issues. The Union Minister also stressed on systematic records of the papers involved in symposium to preserve beneficial research results which can be applied in development process of Myanmar traditional medicine sector.
The symposium is set to be held from August 28th to 29th featuring 20 research papers and 5 posters from Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Science and Technology and Minsitry of Education. After the opening ceremony, the Union Minister, the Chief Minister and officials made a tour to displayed posters.
