Opening of 33rd SEA Games: MOC Chairman attended the opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, hosted by Thailand, was held at 7 PM local time on December 9, at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, attended the ceremony along with Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint, Yangon Region Minister for Social Affairs U Htay Aung, leader of the Myanmar sports delegation and Director-General of the Department of Sports and Physical Education and officials, administrators/coaches and athletes from the Myanmar sports contingent, responsible persons from various countries, and administrators/coaches and athletes from the participating teams.

At the opening ceremony, President of NOC Thailand (SEAGF) and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul delivered the opening speech. His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn of Thailand delivered a welcoming address and officially declared the opening of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games. Following this, Thai national honorary gold medalist athletes carried the torch in a relay and lit the cauldron, officially inaugurating the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.

The 33rd Southeast Asian Games will be held from December 9 to 20 in Bangkok, Chonburi, and Chiang Mai, Thailand, featuring 54 sports disciplines. Myanmar will participate in 38 of sports disciplines, it’s learnt.
