





The coordination meeting on the remittance of Myanmar migrant workers to their families to be made through official banks was held at the Ministry of Labour on Monday afternoon with the attendance of the Union Minister for Labour Dr. Powint Hsan, deputy minister U Win Shein and departmental officials.
At the meeting, the union minister said as the remittance of Myanmar oversea migrant workers to their families plays the crucial role for the development of the country, earning foreign currencies, this coordination meeting is held to lay down and implement the procedures regarding with the remittance to the families.
The Ministry of Labour has permitted the workers to work in abroad since 1999 in line with the law through the license holder agencies or self-arrangement.
As of 2014, the Central Bank of Myanmar recorded the remittances under the categories of Malaysia, Thai and Singapore and others; the amount of remittances to the families has been 6152.044 million USD until July in 2022 according to the statistics of CBM etc.
The union minister also invited the attendees to take part in the discussion on the process to be implemented to remit the salaries or wages to the families officially.
Then, the attendees took part in the discussions and the union minister supplemented necessaries on the discussion.
