Offering Electric Lights Stupas: Yangon Region CM attended the ceremony

On the eve of the Thadingyut Full Moon Festival, a ceremony was held to offer 111, 11 electric lights stupas at the Great Shwedagon Pagoda. The event took place in the evening on the platform of the Shwedagon Pagoda, organized by the Pagoda Board of Trustees.

Present at the ceremony were Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, region ministers, Region level departmental officials, members of Pagoda Board of Trustee and devotees and they performed a clockwise procession around the pagoda, conveying the electric stupas from the gathering point at the ancient Buddha Statues Prayer Hall. At the ceremony of offering electric lights stupas held at the Chantha-Gyi Prayer Hall near the victory ground, the Chief Minister and officials offered the flowers, water, oil lamps and scent sticks to the Buddha Image and the electric stupas.

They began by performing a clockwise procession around the pagoda, offering electric lights and flowers in reverence to the Buddha images located at the ancient Buddha Statues Shrine.

Following this, the Chief Minister, Region ministers, responsible officials and devotees, performed the chanting of religious verses, observing five precepts, reciting Pathana Dhamma discourses. 

The event concluded with the Yangon Region Chief Minister, region ministers, religious associations, donors, and devotees collectively lighting the oil lamps placed around the Shwedagon Pagoda as part of the traditional offerings for the Pre-Thadingyut Full Moon Festival.
