The Yangon Region-level ceremony for the 2025 Nutrition Development Weeks was held at the Mingalar Hall of the Yangon Region Government Office on August 19. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein attended and gave an opening speech.

In his opening remarks, Chief Minister U Soe Thein called for everyone to invest and cooperate in nutrition development, which is fundamental and vital for a beautiful future for children. He stressed the importance of ensuring that all people have a balanced diet throughout their lives to be free from disease, reducing maternal and infant mortality rates (which are measures of national development), and raising a new generation of youth who are physically and intellectually developed. He encouraged everyone to accelerate and strengthen nutrition care efforts, starting with breastfeeding, under the theme, "For a beautiful future for children, let's breastfeed and invest."

Next, a video titled "Let's Eat a Nutritious and Balanced Diet during Pregnancy" was shown to commemorate the 2025 Nutrition Development Weeks.

Following the video, the Chief Minister and his wife, along with the Chair of the Regional Maternal and Child Care Supervisory Committee, presented awards and prizes to the schools that won the regional high school students' nutritious cooking competition.

The Chief Minister and officials then toured the exhibition booths. They administered high-potency Vitamin A supplements to children under five and gave them gifts. They also presented gifts to pregnant and lactating mothers.
