













The opening ceremony of the Non-Stale Gold Lotus Robe Weaving Event for the 2025 Maravijaya Buddha Image Tazaungdaing Festival was held at the Mara Vijaya Buddha Park Water Fountain Square.
The Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commisson Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended to pay homage. First, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman and his wife arrived at the venue for the ceremony.
They were warmly welcomed by officials, ethnic performers from Myanmar Radio and Television, cultural troupes from the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture. Subsequently, the ceremony was opened by reciting "Namo Tassa" three times and paying homage to the Buddha.
The Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin Oo Lwin, then read the "Jaya Mangala ဇယ မင်္ဂလာ Letter" text. Afterwards, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman and his wife cut the ribbon to officially open the 2025 Maravijaya Buddha Image Tazaungdaing Festival Non-Stale Lotus Robe Weaving Competition.
Following this, U Thant Swe, a member of the Maravijaya Buddha Image Board of Trustees, signaled by striking the auspicious gong. Upon this signal, the weaving groups began weaving the non-stale gold lotus robes at their respective sacred looms.
As the weaving groups started their work, artists from the Ministry of Information's Myanmar Radio and Television, cultural troupes from the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, and artists from the Myawady Music Band under the direction of the Public Relations and Psychological Operations Directorate performed the song "Myaing Myaing Saing Saing La Tazaungdaing".
Simultaneously, attendees released small hot-air balloons and sky lanterns. The performances continued with artists from MRTV, cultural troupes from the Department of Fine Arts, and artists from the Myawady Music Band performing Yein dances, along with traditional long and short drum music and other melodious songs.
Later, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman and his wife, along with other guests, toured each of the 15 sacred loom stations, observing with interest the progress of the weaving groups as they worked on the non-stale gold lotus robes.
Finally, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman and his wife, along with other ceremony attendees, joined the monks and lay pilgrims who had come for the Maravijaya Buddha Image Tazaungdaing Festival light offering ceremony to watch the launching of large night balloons and Sein-Na-Pan hot-air balloons.
