Nine new names have been unveiled for tropical cyclones this year in the western North Pacific and the South China Sea. The Hong Kong Observatory proposes Dim-sum as a contender. Other names include Hebi and Tomo, proposed by Japan which are constellations.

Cambodia contributed “Koki,” which is a local large tree with a hard flesh. South Korea put forward the name Narae, which means wings. The new names will replace old ones of tropical cyclones which caused serious casualties and economic losses.
