New School building: Hopong Township sees a new school facility

A ceremony to hand over a new building of Done May Khoe village basic education middle school in Paung Lin village-tract in Hopong township to the Ministry of Education was held on Friday.

Under the coordination of the Department of Border Areas and National Races Development in Hopong Township of Pa-O Self-administered Zone of Shan State (South) and with the support of the Nippon Foundation, a Japanese non-governmental organization, the new facility was built with the contribution of well-wishers and local people.

At the ceremony, Chairman of Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Administration Body U Khun Ye Htwe and officials formally opened the new school building and planted commemorative trees.

At the opening ceremony, the Chairman of Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Administration Body called for long-term durability of the school buildings, greening and beautifying of the schools and participating in attending school-age children to school.

Later, officials from Department of Border Areas and National Races Development and the Nippon Foundation (Setana) regional project explained about the purpose of the donation and handed over the commemorative pennant and documents related to the new school building to the township education officer.

The Nippon Foundation also presented 12.6 million kyats for regional development fund. The new building of Done May Khoe basic education middle school was constructed in 2021-2022 academic year and it was built with contribution of over 77.6 million kyats from the Nippon Foundation and over 12.54 million kyats of local people.
